Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Local Pick (the "app"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What Local Pick is

Local Pick is a community app for finding and sharing edible fruit, herbs, and nuts growing nearby. Locations, ripeness, photos, and reviews are contributed by users like you — Local Pick doesn't verify or guarantee the accuracy of anything shown on the map.

2. Who can use Local Pick

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By using Local Pick, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

3. Your account

• You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account.
• You agree to provide a real, working email address and to keep your account information accurate.
• You can delete your account at any time from Profile → menu → Delete account.

4. Content you contribute

When you add a plant location, photo, review, rating, or note, you keep ownership of what you contribute, but you grant Local Pick a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display, and distribute it within the app so other users can see it — that's the whole point of a community map. Plant locations you add stay visible to other users even if you later delete your account, since other foragers rely on that information; they're just no longer linked to your account.

You agree not to post content that:

• Is false, misleading, or intended to deceive other users (e.g. a fake location, or falsely marking a plant as safe to eat);
• Infringes someone else's rights, including copyright or privacy;
• Is abusive, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit;
• Identifies a real, private location without permission from whoever owns or manages it;
• Is spam, or otherwise abuses the app's reporting, rating, or favouriting features.

5. Moderation and enforcement

Other users can report content or accounts that break these Terms. Local Pick may review, edit, or remove content, and may suspend or ban an account, at its own discretion, if we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated. We aim to be fair, but moderation decisions are ultimately ours to make.

6. Ads and Pro

Local Pick is free to use and supported by ads shown through Google AdMob — see our Privacy Policy for what that involves. An optional ad-free Pro tier may be offered as a paid upgrade; if so, purchases are handled through the App Store or Google Play and are subject to their own terms and refund policies, not ours.

7. Local Pick's own content

Everything in the app that isn't user-contributed — the Local Pick name, logo, design, and code — belongs to Local Pick or its licensors. You may use the app for its intended personal purpose, but you may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or redistribute the app itself.

8. No warranty

Local Pick is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information shown (especially plant identification or edibility) is accurate or safe to rely on.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Local Pick and its creator are not liable for any illness, injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of the app, including from foraging based on information found in it. This is a community hobby project, not a professional foraging or medical service.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Ending your access

You can stop using Local Pick and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
